WellDog to Unveil Groundbreaking Shale Thermal Maturity Testing Service

New service advancing into limited commercial demonstrations with select operators in multiple shale basins

19 July 2017 (Laramie, WY) – WellDog announced today that it is unveiling a new service for accurately and quickly determining thermal maturity in shales.  The company will reveal the technical service and begin identifying lead commercial partners at the Unconventional Resource Technology Conference (URTeC) in Austin, Texas on Monday.

Thermal maturity is one of the most important parameters used in determining how deep to drill horizontal wells during unconventional oil and gas developments.  WellDog’s new service provides the only direct measurement of shale thermal maturity available.

“We’ve spent years applying our long-standing reservoir technology expertise to developing a better thermal maturity test for shales,” said Pete Christian, Chief Commercialization Officer and Vice President of Engineering at WellDog.  “The resulting service has been validated against samples that have known maturity.  Those ongoing independent blind tests have resulted in a remarkably high correlation with the known maturity samples.  As an added benefit, the samples are not damaged by the tests.  We are looking forward to taking the next step into commercial demonstrations.”

Technical details of the analysis will be presented at URTeC at the Austin Convention Center on Wednesday, July 26 at 3:05 p.m. in room 15.  Interested parties can also learn more by visiting the company’s booth #707 at the convention center any time between July 24 and July 26.
