Weatherford Director joins WellDog executive management team
WellDog announced today that Quentin Morgan has been appointed Chief Technology Officer of the company. Morgan was previously Subsurface Engineering Director for Weatherford.
“Quentin has intimate knowledge of the technologies that we provide to help the coalbed methane and coal mining industries characterize their coal seam reservoirs,” said John M. Pope, Ph.D., president and CEO of WellDog. “His broad market experience in the conventional oil and gas industry will help us make the leap into assisting those customers, too. And his work ethic, positive attitude and technology startup experience make him a great fit for our growing company.”
“The move from a large multi-national service company to a dynamic and fast growing technology driven enterprise presents enormous opportunities and challenges,” said Morgan. “The opportunities stem from being able to leverage 28 years experience in various field, management and R&D roles to shape and manage WellDog’s technology portfolio. The challenge comes from sustaining strategic direction in a fast changing and expanding business environment.”
Morgan, a British citizen, holds a 1st class honours degree in Nuclear Engineering from Manchester University and a Master’s of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Robert Gordons University. He started his career as a Field Engineer operating well test, DST and TCP guns, before joining Expro as a Downhole Data Acquisition Specialist in the UK, Dubai and Egypt. He subsequently became Expro’s Data Acquisition Product Line Manager in Holland and Denmark, followed by Country Manager in Colombia and then North America. He was then appointed as Expro’s worldwide R&D Manager focusing on a full portfolio of existing and new technical business lines.
Morgan completed his tenure at Expro by serving as Technical Manager for the Asia Pacific region in Brunei, before accepting a position at Weatherford (a US$10BB company; NYSE: WFT) as Middle East & North Africa Region Business Unit Leader for intelligent completion technologies. Based in Dubai, he subsequently became the Sand Control Region Business Unit Leader, and then transferred to Singapore, where he was promoted to Worldwide Subsurface Engineering Director.
Morgan will be based out of the company’s Brisbane office.
