WellDog appoints Expro founding member as non-executive director

WellDog announced today that it has appointed decorated entrepreneur Sandy Hunter as a non-executive director.   Sandy is currently partner at Ambrose Resources LLC, which operates and develops shale oil fields in Texas and Louisiana.  Prior, he was a key member of the management buy-out team that led to a US$200 million public listing and US$3 billion sale of Expro to Goldman Sachs subsidiary Candover.

“With his pioneering downhole gauge background and his ongoing US shale operational experience, Sandy is ideally skilled to help guide our company’s growth as we both upscale our Australian downhole gauge business and enter the US shale market,” said John M. Pope, president and CEO of WellDog. “He brings to the company a rare blend of operating savvy and technology entrepreneurship, and his active role in the US shale boom is assisting us in opening that market to our downhole gauge and gas testing technologies.  And he’s a true entrepreneur, which fits well with our company culture and values.”

“WellDog’s technology platforms, technical services, and deep and broad technical resources stand out in the oil and gas industry,” said Hunter.  “The market position that the company has built in Australia, the US and around the world provides it an excellent base for continued fast growth.  There is a huge demand in the market for what WellDog is offering.  And I really like the team – they have a lot of drive and knowledge.   I worked closely with director Ashton, COO Walker, and CTO Morgan at Expro.  This team has a track record of success in this space.”

“I look forward to leveraging my experience to help the WellDog team get to where they want to go smoothly, efficiently and quickly,” said Hunter.  “I can do this best by helping them with refining the company’s service offering and financing plan.”

Hunter was a founding member of The Expro Group, a UK-based global oilfield services company.  He subsequently founded Nomar Limited, an Aberdeen based business consultancy involved in nine corporate start-ups.  All continue to trade successfully, with three being sold, creating substantial returns for their investors.   Hunter subsequently co-founded Highland Energy Ltd (1999) and Caledonia Oil & Gas Ltd (2003).  Both companies were subsequently sold at significant investor return.

Shale oil operator Alexander “Sandy” Hunter was founding member of Expro and has built and exited several oil and gas technology and operating companies including one of the original downhole gauge technology companies and two ventures backed by First Reserve
