WellDog founder appointed to Wyoming Governor’s CBM Water Use Task Force

Wyoming Gov. Dave Freudenthal appointed WellDog founder John Pope to a task force that the Legislature created this year to address possible uses of water produced from coalbed methane extraction.

Seven governor appointees will serve with four legislators and four state agency representatives on the 15-member panel. The governor appointed the following people: Thomas Clayson of Casper, representing the coalbed methane industry; Helen Jones of Buffalo, representing agriculture; Kurt Kelly of Rawlins, representing the public at large; John Pope of Laramie, representing the coalbed methane industry; Bob Ruby of Buffalo, representing the agriculture industry; Joseph Olson of Upton, representing the coalbed methane industry; and Neal Schuman of Buffalo, representing the agriculture industry. Other members include Rep. Kermit Brown, R-Laramie; Rep. Pat Childers, R-Cody; Sen. Kit Jennings, R-Casper; Sen. Chuck Townsend, R-Newcastle; John Corra, director of the state Department of Environmental Quality; Mark Doelger, chairman of the Wyoming Pipeline Authority; Don Likwartz, supervisor of the Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission; and Pat Tyrrell, Wyoming state engineer.
