WellDog invited to address Queensland Parliament

Brisbane, Queensland (March 11, 2014) – John Pope, WellDog president and CEO, was a featured speaker at the inaugural Business Angels in Parliament event held on Thursday in Brisbane. The event facilitated discussion between members of parliament and angel investors regarding new job creation and economic diversification by enhancing the entrepreneurial and startup company ecosystem in Queensland.

WellDog provides technology to the oil & gas, mining and alternative energy sectors, and has received funding from the Brisbane Angels as well as the Sacramento Angels, Houston Angels, Wyoming Angels, Melbourne Angels and other leading industry entrepreneurs.

“In 2010, we were a US company expanding into the Asia Pacific market by coming to Brisbane,” stated Pope. “However we have evolved into a company that has joint Australian and US ownership, staff and customers, and is now also exporting technology and expertise developed in Australia to the US and other countries.”

Pope’s talk focused on discussing how WellDog built a business by innovating products and services that value-add Wyoming and Queensland energy resources, and how it has exported that value to various international markets – along the way, building one of the fastest growing private companies in the US. He also discussed how that work resulted in new technologies and business models that help resource producers improve their economics while reducing the environmental and social impacts inherent to development.
