WellDog launches permanent Asia-Pacific hub in Brisbane
Fast growth and increasing demand from global mining and gas companies has sparked technical services business WellDog to open a new regional head office in the Brisbane CBD.
The company, which provides technology to the oil and gas and alternative energy sector, first opened its Australian doors in late 2010 with the help of backers from the Brisbane Angels investment group and other private investors.
In just over two years, the company has grown from a start-up with three employees, to launching its new regional headquarters in Brisbane with more than 30 employees and dozens of clients across the Asia-Pacific region.
WellDog CEO John Pope said the new offices would be the “hub” for WellDog’s expanding operations in Australia, New Zealand, Asia and even Africa.
“As our operations in the Asia-Pacific region grow it’s important for us be able to provide the most efficient commercial and technical support for our clients,” he said
“This new base in Brisbane will allow us to respond to client needs, help us better support our rapidly growing commercial activity in the Asia-Pacific and provide a permanent, efficient space in which our increasing number of Queensland staff can work.”
The office opening was marked by a reception on May 22 attended by local shareholders, partners, customers and government representatives including Assistant Minister for Natural Resources and Mines Lisa France.
Ms France said she was interested to monitor WellDog’s growth in the Asia-Pacific region.
“Our Government is open for business and, therefore, I’m delighted to see that WellDog have established their Asia-Pacific base here in Brisbane,” she said.
“I look forward to watching the company grow.”
WellDog also maintains an operational and manufacturing base in Roma, Queensland, which mobilises products, equipment and service personnel to support projects around the world. In addition to this WellDog has offices, laboratories, a manufacturing centre and operational base at its headquarters in Laramie, Wyoming, USA.
In the past two years, WellDog has launched various technologies to improve the safety and efficiency of activities in the oil and gas and mining sectors including the GasMapper and downhole sensor technology Aquatracker to monitor aquifers.
